Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav recently brought a touch of unexpected humor to the Supreme Court during a hearing regarding his long-standing cheque-bounce case. When Chief Justice of India Surya Kant asked the actor if he was working on any new projects, Yadav took the opportunity to open up about the turbulent phase he has endured since 2010. The conversation took a candid turn as the actor reflected on his career, noting that he has worked on hundreds of films while simultaneously navigating significant financial setbacks.
During the exchange, Yadav shared some startling details about his financial losses, specifically mentioning the 2012 film ‘Ata Pata Laapata’, which reportedly resulted in a loss of Rs 17 crore. He told the bench that over the last 13 years, he has faced losses amounting to roughly 200 to 250 crore rupees. Despite the gravity of the legal proceedings, the Chief Justice maintained a supportive tone, encouraging the actor to focus on his craft and continue entertaining his audience with new work.
In response to the encouragement, the comedian revealed that he has already brainstormed a title for a future project inspired by his personal struggle. He plans to call the film ‘Solah Sawan Jhel Ke’, which translates to ‘having endured 16 monsoons’. Yadav explained that this title perfectly captures the period between 2010 and 2026, during which he has been embroiled in the legal dispute. The case, which stems from a loan taken for his directorial debut, has remained a fixture in the courts for over a decade, but for now, it seems the actor is finding a creative way to process the experience.
