The Bollywood fraternity is in mourning following the passing of legendary actor Nana Patekar, who suffered a fatal cardiac arrest in Goa. Among those deeply affected is his longtime friend and co-star Anil Kapoor, who took to Instagram to share a heartbreaking tribute to the late icon. Addressing him by his affectionate nickname, ‘Nanya’, Kapoor expressed his profound grief, noting that the industry has lost one of the greatest artists the world has ever seen.

Reflecting on the personal loss, Anil Kapoor wrote, “Mera dost mujhe chhodkar chala gaya… pehle Satish aur ab mera Nanya. NANYA, tu achanak bohot jaldi chala gaya.” The actor, who shared an iconic onscreen rapport with Patekar as the beloved Uday and Majnu in the hit Welcome franchise, admitted that the void left by his friend’s departure will be felt everywhere. “Bohot miss karunga tujhe, life mein, set par, phone par aur bade parde par,” he added, accompanying his message with a nostalgic photograph of the duo.

The circumstances surrounding the veteran actor’s passing were confirmed by Dr. Shekhar Salkar, Chief of the Oncology Department at Manipal Hospital in Goa. Despite medical professionals attempting to revive him for 45 minutes following his cardiac arrest, the actor could not be saved. Since the news broke, an outpouring of tributes has flooded social media from politicians, fans, and colleagues across the film industry.

Nana Patekar’s final journey was marked by a private farewell, with his last rites performed at his farmhouse residence, Nanachi Wadi, located in Donje village near Khadakwasla, Pune. As the industry comes to terms with the loss, fans continue to celebrate the legacy of an actor whose performances defined generations of Indian cinema.
