Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar took to social media to share his heartfelt greetings with fans on the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras. In a warm message to his followers, the actor prayed for Goddess Lakshmi to bless everyone with prosperity and good fortune, wishing his fans a very happy Dhanteras.
Akshay Kumar was joined by several prominent national figures in marking the start of the festive season. Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his wishes to the nation by invoking the blessings of Lord Dhanvantari, the deity associated with health and medicine. The Prime Minister shared a Sanskrit verse while expressing his sincere hope that the festival would bring happiness, peace, and excellent health to every household. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also shared his greetings, wishing prosperity and well-being to all citizens as the country celebrates this sacred festival.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath used the occasion to highlight the importance of the state’s local economy. He urged citizens to support local artisans and promote self-reliance during their celebrations. Highlighting unique regional crafts such as the carpets of Bhadohi, the Moonj craft of Prayagraj, the Tarkashi work of Mainpuri, and the wooden toys of Chitrakoot, the Chief Minister emphasized that these traditional products are essential hallmarks of the state’s heritage.
Dhanteras marks the beginning of the five-day Diwali festivities, a time when people traditionally purchase jewellery or utensils and offer prayers. Following this, the celebrations continue through Naraka Chaturdashi, the main day of Diwali worship, Govardhan Puja, and finally Bhai Dooj, where sisters pray for their brothers’ longevity and brothers offer gifts in return.
