Sidharth Malhotra is back on the big screen, and his latest outing, The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest, has officially kicked off its theatrical run with a solid performance. The folk horror fantasy thriller, which also stars Tamannaah Bhatia, raked in an impressive Rs 8.12 crore on its opening day, Friday, September 25. Despite receiving a mixed bag of reviews from critics, the film managed to hold its own against the theatrical re-release of the global blockbuster Avengers: Endgame, which has been drawing significant crowds back to cinemas.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh highlighted that the film is performing exceptionally well in mass pockets, the heartland, and single-screen theaters. This debut figure is particularly noteworthy as it marks a comeback of sorts for Sidharth at the box office. The Vvaan has managed to outperform the opening day collections of his last three theatrical releases: Yodha, which earned Rs 4.25 crore, Param Sundari, which opened at Rs 7.37 crore, and Thank God, which brought in Rs 8.10 crore during its Diwali release.
Directed by Deepak Mishra, the film is a creative collaboration between TVF’s Arunabh Kumar and producer Ektaa Kapoor. The Vvaan blends elements of folklore, fantasy, mystery, and humor, offering audiences a unique cinematic experience. Presented by Balaji Motion Pictures in association with TVF and 11.11 Production, the project is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Arunabh Kumar, and Niraj Kothari, with Manu Anand serving as the visual director and director of photography. With a promising start in the books, all eyes are now on how the film sustains its momentum throughout the opening weekend.
