Shweta Tripathi is officially stepping into a new arena, transitioning from a powerhouse performer to a visionary producer. Known for her memorable roles in Masaan, Mirzapur, and Made in Heaven, the actor is currently riding high as her debut feature production, Mujhe Jaan Na Kaho Meri Jaan, makes waves on the global stage. After a successful run at the Berlin International Film Festival earlier this year, the film is now headed to the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2026.
Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Sanjoy Nag, the film is a queer love story that also features the incredibly talented Tillotama Shome. For Shweta, the transition behind the camera has been a transformative experience. She admits that producing has fundamentally shifted her perspective on storytelling. While acting requires a deep dive into character and narrative, she notes that producing demands a broader outlook, focusing on the film’s life cycle, potential partnerships, and the vital task of connecting a story with its intended audience.
This shift toward production is a natural evolution for Shweta, who first dipped her toes into the business with her theatre company, AllMyTea, back in 2010. Her history with compelling narratives includes the queer drama Cock, which she brought back to the stage during Pride Month this year. Representing her first feature production at major international markets has given her a fresh appreciation for the industry, as these festivals provide the essential space to turn creative possibilities into reality. Shweta remains deeply committed to the project, driven by a personal connection to the story and a desire to champion narratives that matter.
