The Indian film fraternity is in mourning following the news that legendary actor Nana Patekar has passed away. The veteran star died at 5:20 am on Thursday after suffering a cardiac arrest at his residence. Dr. Shekhar Salkar, Chief of the Department of Oncology at Manipal Hospital, confirmed that medical teams attempted to revive the actor through CPR for 45 minutes, but he remained in asystole throughout the procedure.
Former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan took to social media to express his grief, sharing a heartfelt message for the late actor. Posting on X, Dhawan wrote, “Indian cinema has lost a truly special talent today. Nana Patekar saab, your work will continue to inspire generations. Om Shanti.” The cricketer’s tribute echoed the sentiments of fans and colleagues across the nation who are remembering the immense legacy Patekar leaves behind.
Nana Patekar, 75, was a titan of both Hindi and Marathi cinema. Since his 1978 debut in ‘Gaman,’ he delivered iconic performances in cult classics including ‘Parinda,’ ‘Prahar,’ ‘Angaar,’ ‘Krantiveer,’ ‘Tiranga,’ ‘Khamoshi,’ and ‘Ab Tak Chhappan.’ Known for his intense screen presence and unique dialogue delivery, he remained a relevant force in the industry until his final days.
Even in his later years, the actor was deeply involved in several high-profile projects. He was a part of the ensemble cast for ‘Housefull 5’ alongside Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, and Riteish Deshmukh. Additionally, he recently portrayed a police officer in Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘O’Romeo’ starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, and also made a cameo appearance in ‘Subedar,’ which features Anil Kapoor and Radhika Dimri.
