Veteran actor Rakesh Bedi has opened up about the mounting tension within the Cine and TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA), describing the current internal dispute as deeply saddening. Amidst the ongoing drama surrounding the association’s executive committee, Bedi emphasized that members often treat their involvement as a form of social work, dedicating significant time and personal resources to support their peers. He specifically highlighted the 2024 musical tribute for Raj Kapoor’s birth centenary, noting that he and other dedicated members, including Poonam Dhillon and Padmini Kolhapure, worked tirelessly to make the event a success. In a candid admission, Bedi revealed that he even contributed his own money to support the show, aiming to debunk any claims that the leadership lacked good intentions.
The unrest stems from a series of resignations that occurred last month, when eleven members stepped down citing a lack of consultation on key executive decisions. While Poonam Dhillon and Padmini Kolhapure have firmly rejected these allegations, the conflict eventually escalated to the courtroom. Following a legal challenge regarding the election process, a court order on September 9 allowed the polls to proceed, with the official CINTAA elections taking place on September 12. Despite the current friction, Bedi remains optimistic, asserting that the situation is temporary and that the association will continue to function effectively as the dust settles.
Looking ahead, the actor expressed confidence that a resolution is on the horizon. He noted that while perspectives currently differ, he maintains a positive relationship with all his colleagues and believes their viewpoints may eventually align. Beyond the association’s internal affairs, Bedi is preparing for his next big-screen outing in ‘Prem Keetanu’. Directed by Apoorv Singh Karki, the film features Aparshakti Khurana and Veer Pahariya and explores the complexities of friendship, first love, and heartbreak. The movie is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on October 2, 2026.
