Long before the glitz and glamour of modern reality TV, Qazi Touqeer captured hearts as the winner of Fame Gurukul in 2005. Now, nearly two decades later, actor Gurmeet Choudhary is rooting for his old acquaintance as he makes a grand return to the spotlight on Bigg Boss 20. Gurmeet, who first crossed paths with Qazi back in 2004, admits he has always seen a versatile performer in the singer, long before the world typecast him into a musical box.
Reflecting on their initial meeting, Gurmeet shared that he recognized Qazi’s raw potential as an actor early on. Even as Qazi enjoyed his massive popularity following his reality show win—a season that famously featured a young Arijit Singh—Gurmeet felt that his talent extended far beyond the microphone. While the two haven’t crossed paths since those early days, Gurmeet remains a silent admirer of Qazi’s journey. He expressed genuine happiness at seeing the performer finally getting a chance to showcase his acting chops to a new generation of viewers.
Gurmeet acknowledges that breaking into the film industry is no small feat, even for those who have already tasted fame. He remains optimistic that the visibility provided by Bigg Boss 20 will serve as a launchpad for Qazi, potentially opening doors to the acting projects he has long deserved. The actor is confident that once the industry sees what Qazi is capable of, he will carve out a significant name for himself in the world of cinema.
On the professional front, Gurmeet Choudhary is gearing up for his own big screen venture. He is set to star alongside Isha Malviya in the upcoming musical drama Tum Mere Ho. The film is particularly special as it marks Isha’s big Bollywood debut and serves as Gurmeet’s first foray into film production, with a theatrical release scheduled for October 23, 2026.
