Amitabh Bachchan hits out at media for misinterpreting his religious chant

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has publicly slammed sections of the media for twisting his recent devotional post into a political confrontation.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has publicly slammed sections of the media for twisting his recent devotional post into a political confrontation. The veteran actor took to social media to express his deep displeasure after several reports interpreted his invocation, “Hathi Ghoda Palki, Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki,” as a direct challenge to his detractors. Big B clarified that the chant was purely a prayer dedicated to Lord Krishna, and he heavily criticized news outlets for disrespecting religious sentiments to create sensationalist headlines for their own publicity.

In a fiery post, the Bollywood legend questioned the responsibility of the press, labeling those who distort facts as a “fifth column” that undermines the respect traditionally afforded to the fourth pillar of democracy. He highlighted a specific report by News18 Hindi, which claimed he was daring opponents to “bring their elephants and horses,” and dismissed such narratives as nonsensical and laughable. Bachchan emphasized that while ordinary individuals are expected to apologize for their mistakes, certain media outlets seem to operate without any sense of accountability.

Big B also issued a stern warning regarding the power of his massive digital community. Addressing media personnel directly, he pointed out that he commands an army of 50 million followers, claiming that even a fraction of them would be ready to respond if he gave the signal. The actor noted that the more his words are twisted, the stronger the resolve of his supporters becomes. He concluded the post by noting that while he felt the pain of being misrepresented, he chose to keep his personal feelings private rather than sharing them with the media.

This incident follows a recent blog post where Bachchan appeared to respond to those threatening to stop covering him, famously remarking, “You do one, and we will do a hundred.” During that earlier exchange, he had used the same “Hathi Ghoda Palki” phrase in a defiant context, which likely fueled the media’s recent interpretation. Despite the ongoing friction, the actor remains firm in his stance that his devotional expressions should not be weaponized for political narratives.
