The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has officially clarified that Sunny Deol’s upcoming action-thriller ‘Suryaa: Ant Se Aarambh Tak’ has not yet been submitted for certification. This statement from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting comes hot on the heels of a formal complaint filed by the Indian Medical Association (IMA). The doctors’ body reached out to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, expressing deep concern over the film’s promotional material and its potentially damaging portrayal of the medical profession.
In their letter to the ministry, the IMA highlighted several red flags, specifically the film’s depiction of widespread corruption in healthcare and scenes showing violence against medical staff. The association argued that presenting these acts as heroic or justified could normalize hostility toward healthcare workers and erode public trust. While the IMA acknowledged that individual cases of misconduct should be addressed through legal channels, they stressed that the film unfairly paints the entire medical fraternity in a negative light.
The IMA has urged the government to conduct an impartial review of the content and consider necessary corrective measures, including a potential ban if deemed appropriate. The controversy centers on the teaser released earlier this month, which depicts a man uncovering a dark conspiracy within the medical system. Starring Sunny Deol alongside an ensemble cast including Ravi Kishan, Pragya Jaiswal, and Jisshu Sengupta, the film is currently slated for a theatrical release on November 20.
