Sonu Nigam clarifies viral video showing him reacting to Salman Khan singing

Bollywood playback legend Sonu Nigam has finally addressed a viral video that had the internet convinced he was mocking Salman Khan’s singing skills.

Bollywood playback legend Sonu Nigam has finally addressed a viral video that had the internet convinced he was mocking Salman Khan’s singing skills. The edited clip, which has been making rounds on social media, juxtaposes footage of Salman Khan singing his hit track Main Hoon Hero Tera with a reaction shot of Sonu Nigam looking visibly overwhelmed. In the video, Sonu is seen holding his forehead while remarking, “I heard something good after many days, and it made me lose my mind. I’ll weep if I hear someone sing.” The clever editing led many fans to believe the singer was roasting Salman’s vocal performance, especially given the ongoing online debates regarding the song’s credits.

Taking to his Instagram account to set the record straight, Sonu Nigam shared the misleading clip and expressed his surprise at how content is manipulated online. He clarified that the footage of his reaction is several years old and has absolutely nothing to do with the Bollywood superstar. “Can expect the unexpected on internet. I stumbled upon this edited video. This was my reaction for a Pakistani little girl singer,” Sonu wrote, putting the rumors of a feud or a critique to rest.

Fans quickly jumped into the comments section to back up the singer’s claim, with many recalling the original context of the footage. The reaction actually dates back to 2020, when Sonu was deeply moved by a performance of the song Bol Hu by young Pakistani singer Hadiya Hashmi. At the time, Sonu had shared that the performance, which was sent to him by Jaaved Jaaferi, was so soul-stirring that it moved him to tears. By resurfacing this emotional moment and syncing it with Salman Khan’s performance, internet users created a false narrative, but the veteran singer has now ensured that his genuine appreciation for a young talent isn’t mistaken for a dig at a fellow industry peer.
