Snoop shared that the movie allows him to essentially bring his late mother, Beverly Tate, and his brother, Bing Worthington, back to life, offering him a significant emotional uplift as he revisits the most formative relationships of his career.
Universal Pictures first announced the ambitious project back in 2022, enlisting ‘Black Panther’ screenwriter Joe Robert Cole to pen the script, with Craig Brewer tapped to direct. The film, titled ‘Snoop’, is set to feature actor Jonathan Daviss in the lead role. Daviss has been vocal about the unique advantage of having the real-life subject involved in the creative process, noting that Snoop frequently invited him to hang out during the audition phase to better capture his essence. While actress Lauren London has been cast to portray Snoop’s mother—who passed away in 2021—the actor set to play his brother, who died in 2024, has yet to be revealed.
