Shalini Passi reveals her decade long struggle to overcome camera phobia before reality TV debut

Shalini Passi has quickly become a fan favorite, but the philanthropist and fashion icon recently revealed that her path to the screen was far from easy.

Shalini Passi has quickly become a fan favorite, but the philanthropist and fashion icon recently revealed that her path to the screen was far from easy. Long before she became a household name on OTT platforms, Passi struggled with a severe phobia of cameras that hampered her ability to speak comfortably in public. In a candid conversation, she shared that she spent nearly eight to ten years undergoing rigorous training to improve her pronunciation, memory, and on-camera presence. As someone who naturally thinks in visuals rather than words, she had to put in significant work to build the confidence required for the spotlight.

By the time the opportunity to join Netflix’s hit series Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives arrived, Passi had finally conquered those lingering fears. She admitted that she initially expected the project to be a minor appearance, perhaps just a dinner segment, and was caught off guard by the massive scale and popularity the show eventually achieved. Despite the surprise, she embraced the experience, marking a successful transition from socialite to reality television star.

Her journey into the competitive world of reality TV didn’t stop there. Passi also opened up about her time on the show The Traitors, describing it as a deeply intense and challenging experience. While she initially felt confident relying on her background as a sportswoman to navigate the mind games, she found the high level of deception and trickery involved to be mentally draining. She noted that it was surprisingly difficult to separate the game from reality given the show’s high-stakes environment. The season ultimately concluded with Krystle D’Souza and Rida Tharana emerging as the winners of the Karan Johar-hosted competition.
