The makers of the acclaimed Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha have reunited to announce their next ambitious project, Raidas – Ek Vichar. This devotional biographical drama is inspired by the life and teachings of Sant Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj, a central figure of the Bhakti tradition whose verses are even enshrined in the Guru Granth Sahib. The film, which is set for a worldwide theatrical release in 2027, will be produced in both Hindi and Chhattisgarhi to ensure the saint’s message of equality and human dignity reaches a diverse audience.
The project holds deep personal significance for producers Prakash Mahobiya and Sanjay Bundela, both of whom hold prominent positions within the Chhattisgarh Sarv Ravidas Samaj. For them, bringing the story of the revered saint to the big screen is a responsibility that goes beyond typical filmmaking. They aim to bridge the gap between historical philosophy and contemporary relevance, ensuring that the film resonates with younger generations while remaining authentic to the saint’s legacy of rejecting social hierarchy and caste-based discrimination.
While the official announcement has been made, the hunt for the lead actor is just beginning. The production team has confirmed they will skip the traditional star-chasing route, opting instead for a nationwide search to find an actor who can embody the simplicity, spiritual depth, and conviction of Sant Ravidas. Director Abhishek Singh emphasized that the film will move beyond a conventional biography, treating the saint’s philosophy as a central protagonist. The first poster, which sets a serene tone, features the saint seated before a village gathering under a rising sun, offering a glimpse into the immersive period world the team is currently building.
