Veteran stunt professional and body double Geeta Tandon, a familiar face behind the scenes for over two decades, has sparked a conversation about industry treatment after a harrowing experience on the sets of the Anil Kapoor-hosted reality show, India Ke Top 1%. Tandon took to Instagram to detail how she and her son were invited as guests, only to be left waiting for nearly nine hours without communication. Despite giving up a day of work and flying her son in from Goa, Tandon alleged she was relegated to a tent with no updates, eventually facing dismissive remarks from a production manager when she questioned the delay.
Emphasizing that her grievance is about the systemic lack of respect for those working behind the camera, Tandon clarified that she did not hold the show’s stars personally responsible. However, the incident prompted immediate responses from both host Anil Kapoor and guest Farah Khan. Kapoor expressed his genuine sadness over the ordeal, stating that he values the dignity of everyone involved in the production and apologized for the lack of hospitality. Farah Khan also reached out, explaining she was unaware of Tandon’s presence on set and noted that she would have personally ensured her comfort had she known.
The industry has rallied behind Tandon, with several prominent actors voicing their support for the stunt professional. Tillotama Shome praised Tandon’s unparalleled dedication, calling her a “stellar human,” while Bhagyashree highlighted that no film or show can succeed without the hard work of the team behind the scenes. Shriya Pilgaonkar also chimed in, labeling the treatment as unacceptable. As the industry reflects on these claims, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of professional courtesy for every individual on a film set, regardless of their position in the spotlight.
