Delhi High Court asks Salman Khan to respond to plea regarding Kala Hiran film

The legal battle surrounding the proposed film Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy has taken a new turn in the Delhi High Court.

The legal battle surrounding the proposed film Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy has taken a new turn in the Delhi High Court. Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani has officially sought a response from Bollywood superstar Salman Khan regarding an application filed by producer Amit Jani. Jani is currently seeking a stay on the ongoing proceedings of Khan’s lawsuit, arguing that the relief requested by the actor is identical to a matter already pending before the court. During the hearing, Jani’s counsel asserted that the current suit should be put on hold until the previous case reaches a conclusion.

Representing the actor, Senior Advocate Ravi Prakash confirmed that he would file a formal reply to the producer’s application. The court took the opportunity to clarify the scope of the original lawsuit, which centers on the protection of Salman Khan’s personality rights. Khan’s legal team previously secured a favorable order regarding these rights and has since raised strong objections to the upcoming film, alleging that its promotional material and subject matter are clearly based on incidents from the actor’s life, specifically the 1998 blackbuck poaching case.

As the debate continues, the court has been looking into the status of the project. While the producer’s team maintains that the movie is not yet ready for theatrical release and has yet to undergo the mandatory certification process, Khan’s side has expressed concerns regarding a potential direct-to-OTT release. The court has taken these possibilities into account while reviewing the producer’s request to halt the current litigation. With both parties firm in their stances, the High Court has listed the matter for a further hearing on December 16, leaving the fate of the project in a legal limbo for now.
