The maestro is back at it, and this time, he is joining forces with a global legend. AR Rahman recently opened up about his ambitious collaboration with Hollywood icon Hans Zimmer for the upcoming cinematic adaptation of Ramayana. Describing the experience as a special creative journey, the Oscar-winning composer shared on social media that the project has allowed them to explore fresh musical possibilities while remaining deeply respectful to the soul of the timeless Indian epic. Rahman expressed his gratitude for being part of such a massive project, hinting that there is plenty more to share with fans as the production progresses.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the highly anticipated Ramayana features an ensemble cast that has already created a massive buzz. Ranbir Kapoor steps into the role of Lord Rama, with Sai Pallavi as Sita, Rocking Star Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. Produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios alongside DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, the film is set to be a two-part cinematic event. Fans can mark their calendars, as Part 1 is scheduled to hit theatres worldwide on November 5, 2026, with the second installment slated for Diwali 2027.
In addition to his work on the epic, Rahman is celebrating a major professional milestone. The composer was recently honored with the Best Background Score award at the IIFA Weekend and Awards 2026 for his soul-stirring work in Chhaava. Although IIFA opted not to host a physical ceremony this year, they issued a formal letter to Rahman, acknowledging his contribution as one of the defining performances of the year. The academy confirmed that the trophy would be presented to the legend as a symbol of the recognition his artistry continues to bring to the global stage of Indian cinema.
