The trailer for the upcoming action drama Pratap has officially dropped, and it is clear this is far from your typical cop flick. Starring Amit Sadh and Esha Deol, the film steps away from the standard high-octane police procedural to dive deep into the emotional, often overlooked, struggles of an officer’s family life. The narrative follows Amit’s character, a man who once upheld the law but finds himself suddenly behind bars, forcing the audience to grapple with the circumstances of his downfall.
For Amit Sadh, the project was all about finding a new challenge. Having gained massive acclaim for his role as Sawant in the hit series Breathe, the actor admitted that director Sachin Saraf was adamant about crafting a completely different persona for this film. Amit noted that he is drawn to complex, fragile characters whose moral compass and principles are constantly tested. He believes the film succeeds in humanizing those in uniform, shedding light on the personal sacrifices made by officers and their families—a perspective he feels is rarely given enough screen time in mainstream cinema.
Esha Deol, who portrays Pratap’s wife, Poonam, describes the film as an emotionally driven story that hits close to home. She emphasized that the project serves as a tribute to the unsung heroes of the police force while highlighting the immense strength of the women standing behind them. For Esha, this role was a conscious choice to play a mature, powerful character who carries a strong message for female audiences. She wants viewers to see how families navigate the chaos when their world is turned upside down.
Directed and written by Sachin Saraf, the film draws inspiration from real-life events and the lives of actual officers who navigate positions of power. The trailer keeps the mystery alive, toggling between the past and the present to build suspense around the lead’s imprisonment. Alongside Amit and Esha, the film features a powerhouse supporting cast including Seema Biswas, Tigmanshu Dhulia, and Milind Gunaji. Produced by Pradeep Rangwani under the UV Films banner, Pratap is set to hit the big screens on November 20, 2026.
