Ameesha Patel is calling out the industry practice of actors travelling with massive entourages during film promotions, particularly when those costs are footed by the producers. The Gadar star opened up about the issue during an ‘Ask Me Anything’ session on X, after a fan asked for her take on whether it is fair for stars to bring additional team members at the producer’s expense.
Responding to the query, Ameesha didn’t hold back regarding the financial strain this puts on film budgets. She pointed out that for some actresses, the daily cost of maintaining their promotional team is actually higher than the total amount their film earns on its opening day. “Many female actresses are in denial of their stardom,” she wrote, noting that these entourages are often disproportionately large compared to the box office pull of the star. She added a sharp challenge, stating she hopes these actresses would be willing to maintain the exact same entourage size in their personal lives when they are the ones footing the bill.
Ameesha Patel, who made a massive splash with her 2000 debut Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, has remained a prominent face in the industry for over two decades. Known for her iconic roles in films like Humraaz, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, and Race 2, the actor recently saw a major career resurgence reprising her role as Sakeena in the 2023 blockbuster Gadar 2 alongside Sunny Deol. Her candid remarks have sparked a conversation about production costs and the realities of modern-day celebrity culture in Bollywood.
