The film fraternity is reeling after a terrifying incident in Mumbai’s Juhu area where Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff narrowly escaped a targeted firing attack. While the actor remained unharmed, the incident left two people injured, including his driver, Firdaus, who sustained a hand injury, and a man identified as Mr. Chauhan, who is currently undergoing medical treatment. Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohit Garg confirmed that the shooting took place around 7 pm on Sunday as the actor was departing from a private event. Mumbai Police have since deployed multiple teams and forensic units to the scene to track down the unidentified shooters.
The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has reacted with sharp outrage, slamming the government and local police for failing to secure the safety of film industry members. In a scathing statement, the association highlighted that this is far from an isolated case, pointing to a disturbing pattern of violence that includes recent attacks on Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Rohit Shetty, and Kapil Sharma. AICWA argues that these incidents are part of a calculated effort by gangsters to create an atmosphere of fear and extort money from high-profile personalities, suggesting that Mumbai is dangerously regressing into the underworld-dominated era of the 1990s.
Demanding immediate intervention, the association has called on Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to dismantle the extortion networks operating within the city. Beyond merely arresting the perpetrators, the AICWA is pushing for systemic accountability and permanent security arrangements for film stars and their families. With the industry currently operating under a shadow of fear, the association insists that empty statements are no longer sufficient and that the state must act decisively to restore the confidence of both the film fraternity and the citizens of Mumbai.
